Variable Timing valve VVT Oil Pressure for Switch Honda 37240-R70-A04 US Odyssey

Direct Replacement 2-Year Warranty OE Reference 37240-R70-A04 Easy Installation

Product Overview

The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) oil pressure switch is a critical component that monitors and signals oil pressure to the VVT system. It works with the engine control module to adjust camshaft timing for optimal performance, fuel economy, and emissions. When this switch fails, you may experience a check engine light (often codes P0010–P0014), rough idle, reduced fuel efficiency, or hesitation during acceleration. Ignoring these symptoms can lead to further engine wear.

This replacement switch is manufactured to meet or exceed original equipment specifications, ensuring a perfect fit and reliable operation. It is a direct, plug-and-play replacement for the Honda/Acura OE part numbers 37240-R70-A04, 37240-R70-A03, and 37240-R70-A02. The sensor is built with durable materials and precision electronics to withstand high oil temperatures and pressures, providing long-lasting service. With a 2-year manufacturer warranty, you can install with confidence.

Designed for a wide range of Honda and Acura models (2008–2019 Odyssey, Accord, MDX, Pilot, and more), this switch is an affordable, high-quality alternative to dealership parts. Installation is straightforward with basic hand tools—simply unplug the old sensor, unscrew it, install the new one, and reconnect. No special programming required. Restore your engine's VVT function and enjoy smoother performance without breaking the bank.

Installation Guide

Installation difficulty: Easy. Estimated time: 15–30 minutes. Tools needed: 10mm wrench or socket, ratchet, thread sealant (optional), safety gloves. Always work on a cool engine and disconnect the battery negative terminal before starting.

1
Locate the VVT oil pressure switch. On most Honda/Acura J-series engines, it is mounted near the front of the cylinder head, often adjacent to the VVT solenoid or near the timing cover. Refer to your service manual if unsure.
2
Disconnect electrical connector. Carefully unplug the single-ring terminal from the switch. If the connector is stuck, use a small flathead screwdriver to release the locking tab, then pull gently.
3
Remove the old switch. Use a 10mm wrench or socket to unscrew the switch counterclockwise. Be prepared for a small amount of oil to drip – have a rag ready. Discard the old switch.
4
Prepare the new switch. Apply a small amount of thread sealant (if recommended for your application) to the threads of the new switch. Do not overtighten – the seal is achieved by the O-ring or tapered threads.
5
Install the new switch. Screw the new switch into the port by hand until snug, then tighten an additional 1/8 turn with a wrench. Do not overtighten – 10–15 ft-lbs is typical. Reconnect the electrical terminal until it clicks.
6
Reconnect battery and test. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the engine and let it idle for 2–3 minutes. Check for oil leaks around the switch. If the check engine light was previously on, clear the codes with an OBD-II scanner; the light should stay off if the switch is working properly.
